Luxoft, a global IT service provider based in Zug, Switzerland, has acquired Objective Software GmbH, a 20-year-old consultancy with its headquarters in Munich, Germany plus offices in Turin, Italy; Luxembourg; and Wroclaw, Poland. Objective specializes in software development for the automotive industry, with a focus on connected cars and autonomous drive.

Objective’s portfolio of IP based solutions also includes technologies for ADAS and high-accuracy positioning; and mobility and smart city applications such as those for a tele-operated (remote) driving platform; cloud-based autonomous car sharing; a LiDAR-based automated parking scanner; and automotive cybersecurity. Luxoft notes that these particular solutions plus Objective’s domain expertise will enhance its next-generation software, and that it sees opportunities to “significantly scale Objective’s existing projects in autonomous driving and connected mobility”.

The acquisition is also said to strengthen Luxoft’s presence in Munich in particular. The company intends to expand its software development services to the automakers and Tier 1 suppliers based in the area. Objective describes itself as a longstanding partner to BMW, for example, with whom it is working on technologies such as a Linux-based operating system for ECUs and further AutoSAR (Automotive Open System Architecture) solutions.
